Spiritual steps that changed my life by GABBY BERNSTEIN
Throughout my healing journey, I’ve embraced several spiritual practices that have been my guiding lights. While there are many valuable practices out there, I’ve found three, in particular, that can significantly elevate every aspect of your life when you commit to them wholeheartedly.
1. The Practice of Asking
One of the foundational principles for me is to get into the practice of asking. This involves asking for spiritual support, regardless of your belief system. Whether you connect with a higher power, your higher self, or the universe, the key is to look at the things in your day that may be causing concern and give them over with a request. Start with gratitude, affirming that it’s already done by beginning your request with the words “thank you.”
- “Thank you, [Higher Power], for helping me stay clean and sober today.”
- “Thank you for revealing to me the next right action.”
- “Thank you, universe, for taking this fear from me today.”
Recognize the everlasting energy of love that surrounds us, including guides, angels, and support systems beyond our physical sight. By taking this approach, you open your creative mind and capacity to your true nature, allowing it to be your guide.
2. The Practice of Listening
Listening comes from stillness and can be achieved through meditation. Meditation is a practice that stills the mind and calms the nervous system, opening your right brain’s creative capacity to hear and receive.
When you ask for guidance, it’s essential to also listen for the answers. After saying your prayer, sit in meditation to open your heart further. A daily meditation practice can help you receive the guidance you seek.
3. The Practice of Living in Wonder and Joy
Our days are often consumed by routine and distractions, leaving little room for wonder and joy. Embrace moments of daydreaming, exploration, and paying attention to the subtle things around you.
One way to exercise your spirit and connect with the energy around you is by being kind to people and celebrating the connections between individuals. Recognize the moments between your actions, how you transition from one task to the next, and be present in those moments. By making these moments a part of your daily life, you’ll see your spiritual practice develop and unfold.
In summary, the foundation of these spiritual practices lies in asking, listening, and being present. These practices have been instrumental in my life, and I believe they can be transformative for anyone on their healing journey. Embrace these practices, and watch as your life begins to flourish in new and remarkable ways.
